The Marine Division offers worldwide services in certificating and surveying vessels to ensure compliance with classification rules. The Marine Division maintains and regularly updates the rules for classification for several ship types (deep sea, inland navigation, yachts and offshore units) for Materials & Welding and for Marine Units. The Marine Division maintains registers for class approved vessels, approved marine products and approved companies/suppliers. To check and ensure compliance with the classification rules, own Surveyors perform Plan Approval for naval architecture/engineering, monitor new building construction and ship’s systems on site (yards) and survey ships and ship’s systems once operational.
In the Netherlands, the Marine Division, with offices in Groningen and Rotterdam, handles the classification and surveying of several vessel types including many 80-100 meter merchant vessels, dredging vessels, high speed vessels, work boats ranging between 20-50 meter length, occasionally RoRo vessels and yachts and limited/no marine offshore equipment.
